To replace an antique tap, first know the type of sink you have. If you have a two-hole sink, you'll need to find a new one that matches its existing holes. If you have a three-hole sink, you'll need to find a separate base plate that matches the new faucet's finish and extends long enough to cover the old one. Before you replace the faucet, you'll need to turn off the water valves.
